This pink block is 10 times stronger than steel. Researchers at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) wanted to demonstrate the power of Graphene. A flat sheet of graphene is though to be the strongest material there is. But researchers struggled to translate that strength into 3d forms. Until now, the secret is how the material is shaped. This porous geometry makes it ten times stronger than steel and even small tweaks can change how the graphene reacts and breaks. Future applications include making stronger, lighter weight components for structures like bridges or for devices with intricate parts. Either way it's just fun to watch graphene fight until the bitter end.
