David Vera, Mayor of Chumbivilcas says, "for us, it's a customn, a tradition where the Chumbivilicans have the custom of the great Takanakuy every December 25th and our blood boils. The festival was recently proclaimed an official part of Peruvian heritage, giving men the hope of starting the New Year with a clean slate.
