Amazon's Alexa Might Be Murder Witness

Amazon's Alexa might have witnessed a murder and authorities want to use Echo's data as evidence.

In November 2015, a man was found dead in an Arkansas home. He was allegedly strangled and drowned in a hot tub. The owner of the home, a friend of the victim, was charged with First-Degree Murderer. One year later, a Judge signed a research warrant for the friend's Amazon Echo to obtain evidence from the case. Amazon has not commented on this specific case, but released a statement "Amazon will not release customer information without a valid and binding legal demand properly served on us. Amazon objects to overboard or otherwise inappropriate demands as a matter of course."

Their website states that the device stops recording after a question or request from the user is completed. Alexa sets a timer. The next court hearing is set for March 17. To be decided if Alexa will testify or not.
