Public Transport in Paris is Now Free

Paris is making public transportation free to fight air pollution. Due to vehicle emissions and domestic wood fires, air pollution in Paris has reached a 10 year high. So they've restricted driving in the capital region alternative days between odd and even registration plates. They're also lowering the speed limit on most roads to help, Parisians are able to board public transportation for free. There's no restrictions on electric or hybrid cars. The initiative could cost the city over $4 million. And if pollution levels don't improve, restrictions will continue.
