The brazilian army just steamrolled thousands of guns in an effort to get firearms off the streets. Around 5,000 arms in a bunch which came from the Justice Department were destroyed. They are a result of apprehensions and operations carried out by security forces in the state of Rio de Janerio over the last two years. Many of the guns entered the country illegally. 'Operation Steamroller' follows a bloody year for Rio de Janeiro. 5,033 people were murdered in Rio in 2016 up from 4,200 in 2015.
