The Russian ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov was shot dead in the back while speaking at an art exhibit. The gunman reportedly shouted, 'Don't forget Aleppo, don't forget Syria!' The Shooter is believed to be a Turkish police officer whose motives still remain unclear. According to state-run news, the shooter has been killed by Turkish special forces. Karlov has been ambassador to Turkey since 2013. This comes at a time of heightened tensions over Russian involvement in Syria.
